Each implant can hold one crown, or lend support for a bridge composed of several teeth. The most common type of implant looks like a small screw and is made of titanium alloy, chosen because bone tissue has an affinity for it and grows around it easily. On the top of the implant a post is placed that protrudes through the gum tissue and holds the porcelain crown. Your new teeth require the same good dental hygiene as your natural teeth and you should schedule regular check-ups, as always.

If teeth are lost to trauma, or have been missing for a long time, the bone volume in the area may be compromised. Today's bone grafting procedures can recreate the missing bony tissue at the site of the missing teeth so that implants can be placed. Your Dentist can recommend one of many types of grafting procedures that is right for your situation.

All implant and grafting procedures are done in our Rochester, MI office. There is no need for referral anywhere else. Dr. Doolin's Dental Implant training is extensive and he has been placing and restoring them for over fifteen years with excellent results.
